Dr John Bate graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2001. He then undertook an internship and basic physician training with the Hunter Area Health Service. He completed gastroenterology training, including a year as the hepatology fellow, at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and was admitted as a Fellow to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2009. He subsequently spent 18 months in the United Kingdom as the hepatology/liver transplant fellow at St James’s University Hospital (Leeds), the third largest liver transplant unit in the country.
He specialises in gastroenterology, hepatology, gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
