Dr Margaret Dunkley is a Bariatric Surgeon at Australian Metabolic & Obesity Surgery, as well as Director of Surgery at Mildura Base Hospital.

She was born and raised in Gippsland, and was 16 when she decided to become a doctor. During her eight years at Monash University she received both a Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Science) and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery

After spending 8 years at Monash University she spent time training in Mildura, Townsville, Darwin, Mackay and Brisbane. It was only during her internship at Mildura that she decided to specialise in surgery. 

As well as bariatrics, Dr Dunkley has an interest in general, laparoscopic and breast surgery. 

She returned to Mildura once she finished her training, where she now lives with her husband and 4 children. Dr Dunkley remains passionate about serving the rural community.
